Say a Strict No to Junk Foods

An older man dying because of many diseases is quite understandable, but it is awful when we see a child dying of some disease especially when the Technology is already so advanced and researchers have found out the cure for diseases like AIDS. If we see the present day scenario, then we will find that most of the children these days fall ill every month and are less into sports because they don’t get the energy to play for a long time. Does anybody think what the reason behind such a change in the diet style that has occurred in children of the present generation be due to?

Well, one of the many reasons is “Junk Food” An informal term coined by Michael Jacobson used to depict ready-to-eat convenience foods with zero nutritional value in 1972.
It seems the entire generation is dependent on junk food these days. While walking on the road, most of the restaurants we find on the road sides offer junk food. When children feel hungry they do not think of taking anything else to eat but immediately pick up the option of junk food as if there is nothing else in this world to eat. When they eat these sorts of food they don’t even think for once the consequence of it.

Children mostly love eating fast foods like pizzas, French fries, burgers, chips, etc. but they hardly realize that they don’t get any nutrients from this kind of food. As a result of which children feel hungry and weak. Fast foods contain a lot of fats and calories and which may later get changed into fat deposited in the body.

These foods also contain a large amount of carbohydrates and cholesterol which are useless and cause negative effects in the body. High consumption of these foods also make the people put on a lot of weight and finally it affects the respiratory system of the body, apart from affecting a child’s concentration and memory. It has been found that children that eat more junk foods become a victim of mood swings and other behavioral issues.
The excessive consumption of junk foods may lead to some negative effects on the body such as obesity, glucose intolerance, hypertension, Cardio-vascular problems, high blood pressure, heart diseases, poor concentration, high cholesterol, liver failure and diabetes.

Children cannot be blamed for eating fast foods most of the times because they are not aware of many effects caused by this and even if they are aware, they don’t understand them. Children are their parents’ responsibilities.  Therefore, it is the duty of the parents to keep their children away from junk food. They should rather show them some videos showing the consequences of eating junk foods. Children do not understand many things and hardly care about the results. It is upto the parents how they teach their children not to eat junk foods. Most of all children make ideal imitators of their parents and if parents can only demonstrate how to healthy food in their lifestyle, that will be the best thing to do.
